We, human drummers, play drums dynamically. In addition to playing entire song sections softer or louder, every bar contains micro-dynamics.

Micro-dynamics are the differences between accented and unaccented notes. Without them, a perfectly natural drum groove ends up sounding robotic and fake.

 

Handy Grooves Metal Drums contain completely natural micro-dynamics. They playback as if a human drummer would play them.

The hi-hats utilize only two midi notes: one for the edge and the other for the tip sounds and you can regulate the openness by utilizing the CC4.

 

This approach streamlines something that was previously more of a time sink of assigning notes to each articulation.
