BEBOP STANDARD drumset for the BeatBuddy is GoranGrooves’ newest Jazz-style drumset for BeatBuddy, featuring a 6-piece, immaculately and stylistically tuned acoustic drumset. Combining traditional drum tuning with our unique recording and production techniques, we bring you a Jazz Bebop drumset that sounds true to the genre and as real as anything you’ll ever hear on the BeatBuddy.

 

As if it were picked off a favorite ECM record, the drums are open, natural-sounding, ringing with overtones in an acoustic space and dripping with authentic sought-after Bebop jazz “dirt.” You’ll wonder if this is a recorded drumset or an actual acoustic drumset with no microphones magically squished into your little drum box.

 

Bebop Standard comes with two BeatBuddy drumsets:

  • The regular drumset with the snare strainer (wires) on provides a “buzzy” cutting sound, and
  • with the strainer off for a more mellow sound.

 

Both drumsets will be installed into your BeatBuddy project and available for any of your songs.

 

Each Bebop drumset has its distinct-sounding ride cymbal, while the other cymbals are shared. The regular Bebop Standard drumset’s ride is a musical, soft-sounding rivetted cymbal like the one Art Blakey used to play that provides a simmering sound carpet.

The strainer-off version of the drumset comes with a different, drier-sounding Jazz cymbal, injecting those mysterious, “smokey” vibes into the overall sound.

 

Use this kit to give an authentic vibe to swing grooves when playing Jazz standards or for entirely different purposes. Play Funk grooves through them for an instant, infectious R&B and retro Hip Hop sound, as heard in the 3rd portion of our audio demo. Combine the strainer-off drumset with light, melodic grooves for acoustic singer-songwriter settings.

 

Also included are the two Bebop demo songs, as heard in the above audio example, which will be appended to the bottom of your BeatBuddy project’s available song list.

MULTIPLE DYNAMIC LEVELS FOR DRUMSETS

Each drum and cymbal was sampled at many dynamic levels to faithfully capture the instrument’s full dynamic range.

 

Each instrument comes with enough dynamic levels to produce a believable performance on your guitar pedal drummer.

ROUND-ROBIN SAMPLES FOR DRUMSETS

A human ear can intuitively tell the difference between the same snare sample played repeatedly and a real drummer playing a snare drum. When a drummer strikes a drum, each sub-sequential stroke is slightly different from the one before, no matter how consistently they are played.

 

We sampled each drum and cymbal numerous times at various dynamic levels to solve this. Then, during playback, samples are swapped, and a different sample is triggered for each hit.

If you use BeatBuddy, you are familiar with Goran Rista’s work. As the sole drummer producer of the original content distributed on the BeatBuddy and BeatBuddy Mini for the last decade, Goran was critical to the BeatBuddy's success and popularity.
