The 2024 saw several drumsets remixed: Power Rock, Rock Legend, and Studio Legend.

  • The Standard Pro drumset was rebranded into the STUDIO STANDARD drumset to match its Handy Drums counterpart. It now comes with a remixed, better-sounding snare drum and new hats.
  • The John Bonham-inspired drumset was remixed from the ground up and rebranded as the ROCK LEGEND drumset to match its Handy Drums counterpart. It now sounds more balanced and natural.
  • Vintage Ludwig was rebranded into VINTAGE STANDARD to match its Handy Drums counterpart. The ride cymbal, crash cymbal, and hi-hats were replaced with new samples of better-sounding instruments. 
  • The Ballad drumset was remixed and rebranded into POWER ROCK to match its Handy Drums counterpart. It sounds more balanced, punchy, and natural.
  • STUDIO LEGEND has been remixed from the ground up and sounds more natural and tonally balanced.
  • JAZZ BRUSHES drumset: fixed hats foot splash so that it plays in time whenever triggered.
  • All drumsets now have verbal version numbers included, which can be triggered by note#127 or played by playing the “Drumset version checker” song included in the project. 
  • Transition fills were added to:
    • Rock Drums
    • Songwriter Brushes
  • Funk Drums: some fills contained wrong notes playing on the metronome and were changed to hi-hat.
  • Chill Beats (formerly known as Mellow Beats): added the missing Chill 42 song
  • Ballads (beats): All songs were edited, and the levels of hats and kicks were adjusted to sound better balanced and more natural.
  • Jazz Brushes Beats: edited all songs, adjusting velocities of snare sweeps and accents, kick, toms, and hats for a more natural playback.

 

Other changes:

 

 

  • Some drumsets from the “Default content” have been renamed, namely: “Jazz” to “Jazz Standard,” “Rock” to “Rock Standard,” “Brushes” to “Pop Brushes,” “Metal” to “Metal Standard”
  • The “Phil Collins-Inspired” drumset was renamed to the “Phil Collins Style” drumset.
  • All song packs that had “In the style of” as part of the name were renamed to “*artist style”. Example: John Mayer Style.
  • “The Most Popular Cover Songs” were renamed to “Popular Cover Songs”.
  • “3-3-2 Beats Mega Pack” is now “3-3-2 Rhythms”
  • “Mega Pack: All In 3” is now “Drum Beats in ¾”
  • “Mellow Beats” was rebranded to “Chill Beats”

The approach to drum sampling, craftsmanship, and art form infused into drum sound that defined and made BeatBuddy world-famous is carried through all GoranGrooves drumsets available for BeatBuddy.

 

From Vintage vibes to contemporary drum sounds, GoranGrooves’ virtual drumsets drip with authenticity and realism despite the 100MB drumset limitations imposed by the DRM format.

DRUM & PERCUSSION MULTIPLE VELOCITY LAYERS

Sampled at various dynamic levels, provided in multiple velocity layers.

All percussion and drum instruments in GoranGrooves drumsets for BeatBuddy have been sampled at full dynamic ranges and provided in multiple dynamic levels.

 

Like other instruments, percussion instruments change their timbre, pitch, attack, and decay depending on how hard they are stricken.

 

Providing multiple velocity layers is a crucial step in achieving realism from virtual instruments.

ROUND ROBIN SAMPLES FOR ALL DRUMSETS

Preventing the dreadful stutter effect.

Realistic recreation of acoustic instruments would not be possible without implementing the round-robin technique.

 

With this approach, a different sample is swapped every time a note is triggered. This avoids a strutter/ machinegun-like effect when the same note is played in quick succession at the same velocity level.

 

GoranGrooves’ drumsets for BeatBuddy come with multiple samples in round-robin groups.

SONGS AND BEATS THAT GROOVE NATURALLY

A machine doesn’t have to sound like one.

While a steady, consistent drum groove is desirable from real drummers and drum machines alike, a natural human feel is equally preferred. One does not exclude the other.

 

In addition to playing drum loops on realistic virtual drumsets, the MIDI loops must sound human for the entire performance to be believable. More often than not, the drum beats should not align to an equally-split mathematical grid.

 

Whether played in or programmed, our MIDI loops for BeatBuddy carry a natural swing and human imperfection, resulting in grooves that sound natural and feel good.

“IN-THE-POCKET” DRUM GROOVES

Rock-solid grooves every time.

We refer to drum or rhythm section grooves being “in the pocket” when they feel good and have a consistent timing.

 

The drum beats in songs for BeatBuddy and Handy Grooves packs all groove in the pocket. They were either played in or programmed, then carefully edited to loop seamlessly and maintain a steady, consistent feel. Thus, the transition is smooth and not perceived when a looped part repeats.

DRUM BEAT MICRODYNAMICS

A glue bonding notes into grooves.

There’s no surer giveaway for virtual drums than playing all notes at their top velocities.

The microdynamics between drum components is the invisible key to having grooves “cook” and “flow” naturally. This is the case with real drum performances and a critical aspect to faithfully recreate in MIDI drum loops.

 

Some notes are accented, spelling out the main rhythms, while the others are played at lower velocities, supplying the subliminal groove and driving the beat forward. If a note is played lighter than expected, it may come across as weak, while if played too hard, it can sound out of place.

 

All of our drum beat packs and song packs for BeatBuddy maintain this delicate balance between components, providing recognizable rhythms while moving the groove forward.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BEATBUDDY PREMIUM LIBRARY

10 Years of improvements. We are now better than ever!

The BeatBuddy Library was founded in 2014 under Goran Rista’s leadership and direction in partnership with Singular Sound. For many years, it was located in the library.mybeatbuddy.com web domain, which Singular Sound owns.

 

GoranGrooves was the official and exclusive content producer for the online store and regularly released content based on BeatBuddy users’ requests. Goran was in charge of all content production and ran all aspects of the store’s day-to-day operations, as well as the direction of the Library’s business.

 

In 2019, a bundle called “The Complete Collection” was introduced. It contained all content produced by GoranGrooves and was available in the BeatBuddy Premium Library and on the Singular Sound website.

 

The Libary has served tens of thousands of BeatBuddy users in its years of operation.

 

In June 2024, GoranGrooves and Singular Sound officially ended their years-long partnership. GoranGrooves then migrated all of its content to the GoranGrooves domain.

 

Going forward, all BeatBuddy content produced by GoranGrooves will continue to be available exclusively at the GoranGrooves Library.

I previously purchased BeatBuddy songs and drumsets at the old BeatBuddy Library. Can I get an upgrade credit towards the purchase of the Complete Collection 2024?

If you previously purchased BeatBuddy songs, beats, or drumsets at the BeatBuddy Library or Singular Sound websites, we’ll give you upgrade credit for the amount you previously spent, up to a maximum of $50. Please email us proof of purchase(s), and we’ll set up a discount for you.

Can I purchase the BeatBuddy Premium Library SD card and have it shipped to me?

Sorry, no.

All of our content is strictly digital downloads. However, Complete Collection 2024 comes with an installer that will place the entire BeatBuddy project directly onto your blank SD card, making it ready to play. There is no need to wait for the SD card to arrive. You’ll be playing in minutes.

What happened to the old BeatBuddy Premium Library website?

In a nutshell, GoranGrooves was the official and exclusive content provider for the BeatBuddy Premium Library (formerly located at library.mybeatbuddy.com domain) for nearly a decade. Singular Sound unitarily decided to merge it into their main website, creating a marketplace. As GoranGrooves owns all content it produces and did not agree to move it to the SingularSound.com website at their proposed terms, Singular Sound had to take the content offline on the BeatBuddy Premium Library website, and forwarded the homepage to their main website.

 

However, all content previously available at the old BeatBuddy Library is now exclusively available at GoranGrooves’ Premium Library For BeatBuddy.

Can I access the orders I previously made in the old BeatBuddy Library here at GoranGrooves Library?

Sorry, no.

 

This is a different platform with no physical association with the old BeatBuddy Library. While the digital content for sale was migrated over, no customer orders or accounts were migrated. If you need to access your previous orders of BeatBuddy content, you can still do that at library.mybeatbuddy.com/my-account .

 

To have an account at GoranGrooves Library, you must either create one or make a purchase, during which an account will automatically be created for you.
