Getting Started with GoranGrooves Content on BeatBuddy

If you successfully installed any of our BeatBuddy content using the provided installers, it’s on your SD card and ready to play on your BeatBuddy/BeatBuddy 2. You don’t need to do anything else to enjoy it.

Simply insert the SD card into your pedal and play.

To help you quickly find the new content on your pedal, we’ve prepared this guide.

Songs / Beats/ Handy Grooves for BeatBuddy #

The newly installed songs will be located in the main list of available folders once you power on your BeatBuddy with the SD card inserted. Assuming you made no additional changes to the project since installing the new content, it will be at the very bottom of the list.

Use the up/down arrows to scroll through the list of folders. If you are near the top of the list, scrolling past the top will take you to the bottom, where you will find the new content.

To browse the songs contained in the newly installed folder, either press the TAP button or the right arrow. Once inside the folder, use the up/down arrows to browse the available songs. To load a song, press TAP.

Playing a song functions the same way as with other BeatBuddy songs.

  • Press the main pedal once to begin playback.
  • Trigger fills by briefly pressing the pedal.
  • Advance to the next section while playing any transition fill programmed for the section by holding down the main pedal and releasing. Transition lasts as long as you hold the pedal and will always end at the end of the bar in which it is released.
  • To end a song, double-tap the pedal.

Drumsets for BeatBuddy #

Newly installed drumset(s) will be available in the list of available drumsets in your BeatBuddy project.

When you power on your BeatBuddy, you will be in the song folder listing by default. You will not find the new drumset there.

To browse available drumsets, move the “DRUMSETS” rotary knob on your pedal.

If, during installation, you let the installer arrange all available drumsets alphabetically, you will now see them arranged that way and can locate the new drumset in its alphabetical spot. If, however, you did not arrange the drumsets alphabetically during installation, the newly installed drumset will be appended to the bottom of the available drumset list.

To select a drumset, press the DRUMSET rotary button. The drumset will load for the currently selected song.

To set a drumset as the default drumset for the currently selected song, so it always loads for that song, press and hold the DRUMSET rotary knob for a few moments.

Complete Collection For BeatBuddy #

Our Complete Collection for BeatBuddy includes 2 types of installers: the entire project (including the Default Content) installed on a blank SD card, and Premium content only installed into an existing BeatBuddy project on an SD card.

If you installed the entire project on a blank SD card, you will find both the Default Content and Premium content in the same project. Default Content appears at the top of the song folder list, with Premium content below it, and the drumsets are arranged alphabetically and include both Default and Premium drumsets.

Browse the list of available song folders by using the up/down arrows on your BeatBuddy.

To enter a folder, press the TAP button or the right arrow. Browse the available songs the same way you browse folders. To select a song, press TAP.

To begin playing a song, press the main pedal.

If you installed only the Premium portion of the Complete Collection using the “UPDATER” installer, the Premium song folders will be appended to your existing content at the bottom.

Browse the list of Premium song folders by using the up/down arrows on your BeatBuddy, scrolling down past your existing song folders.

To enter a folder, press the TAP button or the right arrow. Browse the available songs the same way you browse folders. To select a song, press TAP.

You will find the new drumsets in the drumsets category, which you can browse using the DRUMSETS rotary knob on your pedal.

For changing drumsets for songs, see the above Drumsets section.

Creating Playlists Directly on BeatBuddy Pedal #

Did you know BeatBuddy supports playlists and lets you create them directly on the pedal?

No need to copy and paste songs, import/export, or do other gymnastics. You can create playlists on your pedal that reference any song available in your BeatBuddy project.

Here is how to create playlists in your BeatBuddy project directly on the BeatBuddy pedal.

  • Browse and find a song you want to add to a playlist.
  • Hold down the VOLUME and TEMPO rotary knobs simultaneously.
  • “Add to playlist” screen will display 10 playlists (Playlist 1, Playlist 2, etc.).
  • Select the playlist you want to add the song to, then press TAP. You’ll see a pop-up confirmation that the song was added to the playlist. *When a song is added to a playlist, a reference to the original song is created within the playlist. The song is not duplicated, and the original remains in its location.

Playing, reordering and removing songs from playlists

  • Any playlist that contains songs appears at the top of the song folders list.
  • Enter it just like you would with any regular folder (TAP button or right arrow), then select a song within a playlist in the same way you do with regular BeatBuddy songs (TAP button). With the song loaded, begin playback by pressing the main pedal.
  • To move a song within a playlist (reorder), browse to the song within a playlist, then hold down the VOLUME and TEMPO rotary knobs simultaneously. A pop-up screen will give you options to move, remove, or cancel. Press TAP with Move highlighted, then use the up/down arrows to move it to another position in the playlist.
  • To remove a song from a playlist, browse to the song within a playlist, then hold down the VOLUME and TEMPO rotary knobs simultaneously. A pop-up screen will give you options to move, remove, or cancel. Press the TAP button with the remove option highlighted. The song will be removed from the playlist instantly. No confirmation will be given. This will not remove/erase a song from your project, but only the reference to it from the playlist.
  • To delete a playlist, browse to the playlist within the list of available folders, then hold down the VOLUME and TEMPO rotary knobs simultaneously. “Delete playlist” screen will display “Yes” and “Cancel”. Press TAP with yes highlighted, and the playlist will be instantly deleted. No songs within the project are deleted, but only the references to them within the deleted playlist.
